New Game Puts a Spin on GTA: Play as the Cops in The Precinct

"The Precinct" marks a departure for indie studio Fallen Tree Games, known for their work on mobile games like "Highrise Heroes" and the "Quell" puzzle series. This new title channels the spirit of their previous open-world sandbox game, 2019's "American Fugitive," but with a fresh twist inspired by the Grand Theft Auto series, complete with references to classic GTA 5 cheats and GTA 5 hairstyles.

In a gaming landscape where GTA-like experiences are becoming increasingly rare outside of Rockstar's own offerings, "The Precinct" stands out as a promising addition. With the Watch Dogs series on indefinite hiatus and the Saints Row reboot failing to meet expectations, smaller studios like Fallen Tree Games are stepping up to fill the void.

Set in the gritty city of Averno in 1983, "The Precinct" puts players in the role of a rookie police officer investigating their father's death. The game's isometric camera perspective harkens back to the early days of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, while its procedurally generated world ensures that no two playthroughs are the same.

Players will navigate a variety of activities and encounters, from making arrests to engaging in intense helicopter chases. The game offers freedom in how players handle situations, allowing them to choose whether to check for ID, search for items, or engage suspects in conversation. The incorporation of GTA cheats elements adds an extra layer of nostalgia and fun for fans of the genre.

Additionally, "The Precinct" offers customization options reminiscent of GTA hairstyles, allowing players to personalize their character's look and feel, enhancing the immersive experience. Whether you prefer a slicked-back cop look or a rugged, streetwise style, the game provides a range of options to suit your taste.

While a release date for "The Precinct" is yet to be confirmed, it's slated to launch on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam later this year. With its blend of sandbox gameplay and narrative depth, it's sure to be one to watch for fans of the genre. Whether it shows face with a release date at Geoff Keighley's imminent Summer Game Fest is unknown, though considering how close this trailer has been released to the event makes it seem like Gamescom in August would be a more appropriate expectation.
